You have cooked a lot of those. I do not have yes to very many!

I think dishwashers are overrated, most of the time. I mean you still need a place on the counter for the things that can't go in the dishwasher. It is still a decadent feeling for one or two people to have one as we didn't grow up with one.

Hugs, Helen

With the exceptions of 30, 36 and 37 I can answer yes to all of these (and I have never lived with an automated dishwasher except for about 2 weeks I spent couch surfing at a friends place). And for #25 I did meal planning, shopping and prep for a sf/fantasy/gaming convention of 500 people (which included cooking up trays of food to be served buffet style, so I presume that counts).

My mom worked in a commercial bakery that supplied a grocery chain before I was born, her only job before marriage... and as a kid she insisted that we learn the basics of all sorts of cooking and baking (and I grew up with a lot of Italian cooking). I expanded on this when I eventually moved out, had a housemate that had some formal training in French cooking (enough that should could make a good cheese soufflé and Duck L'orange etc.) and she showed me bit more. I have a pile of cookbooks I've used and read in various styles a cultures for things like Greek, Indian, Chinese, etc.

Of the three physical books I've bought in the past year, one of them was a cook book (Tasting History).

That's why I get so frustrated with my dietary limits etc. from diabetes... I actually enjoy and have spent a lot of my life learning about cooking and baking.

I have one, The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet (2013) but it is out of date with current science and spends too much time on the 'Diet' part and not enough on things like Glycemic levels and cholesterol balance of foods (for no reason I can detect). It not much of a cookbook though, despite how it was advertised.

They use a food pyramid that has too much carbs in it and too much fruit, and doesn't even discuss safe fruits vs bad fruits for diabetics (Apples are good, Bananas are bad due to sugar spikes and fiber levels, for example of something they ignored entirely).

But then again they try to use a Weight Watchers Like Point system for diet, which itself has been flawed for a very long time.

The real problem is there are different types of diabetes and different types of body metabolism needs. They don't even go into the importance of some amino acids in diet or things that help digestion (like Almonds, which helps lower glycemic levels of foods if included in meals).
