Well, dad was discharged from the hospital and back to the nursing home on Thursday.

As I commented back several people's comments previously, I did put dad into Hospice Care on the recommendations of the doctors.
I have mixed feelings about it because last November when dad was in the hospital the PA/NP highly recommended that I put dad in Hospice Care because he didn't have much time left.
That was 8 months ago and dad seemed to be doing well at the nursing home.
So I don't know if he really has slipped that much since then or if they doctors are once again pushing this.
On the good side of things, he gives him some extra care.
And do be kind of petty about things, to show you what I am dealing with with my family.
When I was filling out all the paper work for Hospice Care, she asked if I wanted an emergency back up phone number and so gave them my older brother's phone number. This is the brother how lives here in town.
That evening I texted him to tell him that dad was discharged back to the nursing home and on recommendations of the doctors I had enrolled him in Hospice Care.
His response: Thank you.
Then I texted him that I had listed him as the back up phone number for Hospice.
His response: Ok I will be out of state next Friday to Monday just at the camper this weekend.
UGH...
It's not like dad is actively dying.
I am so tempted to take him off and put my younger brother down. I know he lives out of state, but he make decisions over the phone.

Then to just make life fun, I grabbed the mail out of the mail box Friday, and there was a letter for me.
I got a summons for Jury Duty the last two weeks of September. Yippy.......
I did this about 15 or so years ago and actually sat on two juries.
Part of me hopes I breeze through without having to do anything, but the other part of me hopes I get called. It's a very interesting process.

Sorry your brother is wrapped up in himself.

I have served 3 times on trials... all for drunk driving. I find it odd as I don't drive.

My wife got a jury duty notice a week or two ago, I haven't had one in a while. Had one right as the Covid lockdowns were lifting, and me, my wife, and my immunologist said not only no, but HELL NO. He sent a strongly-worded letter about my immune disorder to the court, and I'm now wondering if I've been permanently struck from the pool.

Well, they can take patients off of hospice as a person can only stay on it for 6 months intervals, so there is that at least.

that is a shame about your older brother, maybe you should switch it, sigh.

it sounds like you like jury duty and if your employer pays that might be a nice change for you!

hugs, helen
