Sadly, I'm not surprised and it's not hard to understand. Politically, Rethugnicans produce what appears to be the most favorable business/corporate environment for big corporations: lax laws, low tax rates. Produces the biggest shareholder returns. Meanwhile, their customers want equal rights and an LGBTQA+ affirming stance, so they put on that face as it sells well in the public view.

For a long time I have wondered which companies actually cared and which were just after our dollars.
Well, this explains quite a few of them. :o

For the most part, only small companies care about morality and social justice. Big companies only care about it when it's called to their attention or they're caught doing something naughty, and then they only care for as long as the spotlight is being shone on them. Small companies, as a rule, do not answer to shareholders and Wall Street. You can consider whether or not big corps are evil, but the simple truth is that their motive force is to suck money from our wallets to feed shareholders. That's it. Bottom line, full stop.

Sad but true.
I sent an email to our diversity group asking them to convince company to stop allowing catering from Chick fil a.
And I just realized, I haven't heard anything back from them.
Surprised? Not really. (

This was years ago, but I liked Chik-fil-a's sandwiches, then I found out about the company behind it. Don't eat there anymore. It could happen, but you never know. If there's an LGBTQ worker's group at the hospital, they need to petition for something like that to happen. Or stage a "food out" the next time an event is catered: pick up your sandwich and etc, walk over to a trash can, and dump it out.
