I assume this is because of the war and American companies not doing business with Russia...

Has anybody else lost their paid account and/or extra icon pictures?

I got the notice this morning that my LJ accounts have expired and so I tried to make a payment and it "Failed".

This SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sent them a message, and they replied saying they would give me 12 more months of coverage because of my loyalty/time on LJ.

Yes, its the war, no American banks do business in Russia and other sanctioned companies.

Russia is why I left LJ long ago... especially since LJ was owned by an Oligarch and used for propaganda inside of Russia proper to keep him in power.

I don't... the 80s killed a lot people I knew, died from the plague of AIDS; and a lot of todays Far Right White Supremists got their start during the Reagan era as part of the Christian fanatics and influence of the TV Preachers.

The good parts of the 80s were some culture stuff, music, a few tv shows etc.

So you miss the music and the films, I can understand that. I lived in the counter culture for side of it, and banged heads with the social norms of the Reagan era.

Counter Culture - I dared to live with friends off campus from a college, which included folks that Lesbians, Gays, Bi, Pagan, etc. I was in a relationship with someone who was not the same "race" as myself and who into things like the goth scene, magick, Science Fiction (Star Trek etc.), SF Conventions, Rocky Horror, Comic Books ("weird stuff" like Sandman) some SCA members and Roleplaying Games.

But that's the nature of my life in general (except the parts that require travel, I can't do that anymore).

Reagan's financial actions at that time dropped Massachusetts into a Recession that took much of the decade to recover from. We spent a lot of time getting by on jobs that paid badly, unstable housing (a lot of folks had that, since many a landlord went bankrupt in the Savings & Loan Debacle that closed 75% of the banks in the state). Even my dad almost lost his job a year after Reagan became president (and he had 30 years with his company)... he was lucky and the company got sold instead of closing their HQ in the state.

And that explains why he was their god for so many years.

This was a known problem, a few months ago several people on LJ and DW started complaining about it. If you reach out to the admins, they might comp you a year.

I did, and was so happy to receive the news that they were giving me another 12 months of time. :o
Hopefully things will get straightened out enough by then. :o

Were you able to do so successfully? After 3 days of not being able to post on LJ, I was finally able to do so a few minutes ago.
