Or a few days...
I will try not to make this too long...

Knee update:
Got a message back from another nurse saying the doctor wants me to make an appointment for blood work and to see him. So I did that the next morning. Blood work was done the next day and I have an appointment to see the doc this coming Friday.
I put through a request to get this gout covered under FMLA(Federal Medical Leave Act) so if I have to take time off it wouldn't count against me.
I received a messaged that I qualify for FMLA, but I need to have my doctor fill out a form for it.
* Somebody please explain to me why does your employer get to decide if you are allowed to use FMLA???
I was very proud of myself that I was able to figure out how to sent the form to my doctor in an email. I is not computer savvy. :o
The next day I get an email back from my doctor saying he doesn't want to fill out the form until he can see me in person.
He has refused to help me get FMLA in the past, so why do I get a feeling he's going to refuse to do it again?
The knee is almost back to normal, just some stiffness across the top of the kneecap mostly while doing stairs or longer stretches of walking.

Friday night I floated to my old work unit. It was really nice to work with some of my old coworkers, and it really felt like home. :)
I went home Saturday morning, had some breakfast, yeah too much again, and sat down to watch some tv and work on the computer. I nodded off for about half an hour, woke up, took Maggie out one more time, and headed for bed.
I just crawled into bed when the phone rang. At first I didn't recognize the number, but then it dawned on me that it was the nursing home, so I jumped out of bed to answer the phone.
They were calling to say they were concerned about dad's breathing and wanted to send him to the ER.
I told them yes if they thought it was necessary send him.
I laid back down in bed for a couple of seconds and decided I have to go up and be with dad. So I got dressed and drove up to the hospital and sat with dad.
They did a buttlaod of tests. Gave him a lasix to make him pee off some fluid. Gave him a breathing treatment. And gave him some steriods to help open the lungs some more.
He was sounding and looking a lot better, and so they decided he could go back to the nursing home. They weren't sure about getting outside transportation that late on a Saturday, so they loaded him up in my vehicle and I drove him back.
Minus that half hour I fell asleep earlier, I ended up being awake for approximately 29 hours before I finally crashed. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am hoping to go to the movies tonight.
There is a special showing of the movie, "Grease" to celebrate it's 45th Anniversary.
I hope I can stay awake through it. LOL......

On a fun note, one of the pots of flowers I bought Monday is a big pot of Petunias and the other morning I saw a hummingbird flitting around the flowers. :)

29 hours with no sleep!! Oh no, that is way too long.
Hoping your dad is okay and that your doctor helps you out.

That movie sounds fun, I hope you enjoy it.

Hugs, Helen

I'm glad it sounds like your dad is improved.

I'd seriously consider finding a new doc. Granted, not doing the FMLA paperwork until he sees you again - I can see that. But if you have a problem condition, doing that paperwork is a mere formality.

I think HR must accept FMLA papers, as long as they're filled out correctly. That's probably all they're checking for.

Jon, you need to read this: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fmla/faq#3 Mayo cannot deny your ability to use FMLA as long as you provide proper documentation.  It is a federal law.  You and your doc might have to jump through a few hoops, but if it's complete they must accept it and accommodate you.  If they don't, you have the right to sue their ass. True story.  A previous boss of mine was given the option of quit or be sued!  She had denied one of her underlings the right to use unpaid leave under FMLA for a chronic condition.  She quit, and there was much rejoicing. What FMLA does is prevent Mayo from firing you.  If you use up all your leave and need time off, you can take it - unpaid - for a registered condition.  They can temporarily change your position so that they have continuity of operations, but you will have a job when you return.  Read the faq.
