This past Saturday evening I said screw the gimp knee and went to the Minnesota Zoo for an After Hours Adults Only event that I already had tickets for. It ran from 5:30 to 8:30pm.
It was threatening rain, but we, thankfully, only got a few dribbles early on.
[profile] seekerval's MyJeff was my guest.
When we got there the line to get in was just starting to form. Jeff wasn't ready for a line, and wanted sneak in a heater, so we stood off to a side and chatted. Next thing we knew the line was all the way up to the parking lot and around the corner. I said we might as well wait where we were at and save on walking all the way back there and having to walk all the way back down to the doors with my gimp knee. Well, the line just seemed to keep coming. Eventually it seemed to show and end, but then more people started coming, so we went up and got in line before it could stretch out again.
We got inside and I headed to the little boy's room. Then we headed outside to where the food trucks and breweries were set up. Let's just say it was a MESS. Lines to different trucks and booths were every where. They really needed some organization. :o There was a truck selling New Orleans type foods. There menu online showed a shrimp poorboy sandwich that I thought about trying out, so we went over to check out that truck. No sandwiches on the menu. :o So we walked through all the trucks and beer booths, walking through one line after another. Jeff decided on a burger and I was going to get chicken strips. Mine line wasn't really long, but it also didn't seem to be moving, so I gave up and went over to the truck selling the burgers. Jeff got his food and went in search of a beer. I eventually got mine and waited for him to come back. We ate, it was good. I had gotten a bottle of water to take my pills only to realize, I forgot my pills back in the vehicle. I don't think you were allowed out and back in to the event without getting a new ticket, and I didn't want to waste all those steps on the knee, so I decided IL would just take them at the end of the day. It would only be a couple of hours later then I normally was taking them.
So we headed out to check out the critters...
Saw a posing penguin...

Then we stopped to check out some more Siberian tigers.
Somebody said it was mom, two boys, and a girl.
What I assumed, because I am sexist, the two boys were play fighting...

By the end of the night we had gotten through everything but the aquarium area.
Sadly, when I got out of my vehicle to meet up with Jeff I realized I had forgotten my zoom lens at home. DANG...
Anyway, on the walk back to the vehicles the knee was really not happy with me, but the evening was worth it.
I was just really hoping that I didn't regret it the next day. When I got back to Stewartville, I stopped to get some milk and when I went to get out of my vehicle my knee was REALLY not happy with me. Got myself home, put the knee up, and napped most of the night away. :o Once again, sleep schedule messed up royally.
Thankfully when I woke up on the morning, the knee actually felt better. :)
Update on the knee... It's almost back to normal, but still kind of stiff, mostly noticeable when doing stairs, and I still will occasionally get that sensation that the knee wants to give out on me.

What great photos and what fun it sounds like you had except the sore knee of course. But happy to hear it is getting better!

You really did get some awesome photos, thank you so much for sharing! I miss the San Diego Zoo, and the zoo here is tiny.

Hugs, Helen

The San Diego Zoo is really quite amazing and huge. It cannot really be seen in one day unless you take the bus and the Skyfari. I miss it badly.
