A Day In The Life.....

And the saga continues...

This week has been kind of sucky and expensive.

First the vehicle went into the shop as the power steering was going out on me.
$300+ later I got my vehicle back and, knock on wood, so far so good.

Secondly I floated to another unit one night and sat with a little 92 year old nun with dementia who fell and hit her head. She really did not understand what was going on, and the doctors were absolutely no help.
I understand you don't want to mask any potential neuro issues, but she already has dementia and she didn't sleep a wink. That adds up to psychosis on top of dementia. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thirdly I decided to take my laptop in to the shop and get checked out.
They were able to get it turned on and gave me three options.
$99 would get it running again.
$312 would get it updated, but lose all my date.
$411 would get it updated and get my data transferred.
The $99 sounds like it's just waiting for another problem sooner then later.
And why would I want to lose all my data?
So I went with the $411.
Their hours are really short on Saturday, so in the middle of what would normally be my sleep time I was up and running into Rochester to get my computer back.
Got home and fired it up and it worked really nice. Minus have to put in passwords again for several sites, all was good. :)
You knew that couldn't last...
Some where around midnight I lost the battle and fell asleep.
When I woke up my laptop had a black screen and a message that said I needed to add a system to my hard drive or something like that.
UPDATE:
I came home from the movie and tried to computer one more time and got the same message. So I turned it back off.
Just turned it back on to get the exact wording of the message to share with your and it said Don't Turn Off it was updating. And now it appears to be working again. WTF?????????????????????

Oh dear what an awful expensive week D:

I know the update-scare. I had it once and because it took several hours I panicked and thought my laptop had died while I was at work.
I just wanted to look up something quickly before leaving for work, then the update happened, so I left for work and when I returned home it still wasn't done ^^;
And since that day, a couple of years ago I am so wary of updates and the duration they take.

I just don't understand why it was telling me I didn't have any system installed on my computer. :o

Ahh the updates. Maybe just leave it on and let it be for a few days.

Spoke too soon.
There is definitely some kind of glitch going on in it.
I will be stopping at the repair place in the morning. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Physically I think I figured out it's 7 years old, but of course that's ancient in computer speak. UGH...
