A Day In The Life.....

The vehicle did not make it to the oil change to get the leaking power steering fluid looked at.
It is currently sitting at the mechanic's waiting to get serviced.
By the time I drove back from work this morning to the mechanic's the steering was getting really stiff.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good thoughts will be accepted for a Not So Expensive bill.

Date: 2023-03-02 09:33 pm (UTC)This new one has amazing engine management information available, which I like. And much better smart phone integration. These things are kinda important to me, so worth the investment. The sad thing is the installation and adapters required are almost as expensive as the radio!

Date: 2023-03-03 06:36 pm (UTC)I had a ten-disc Pioneer car stereo/CD changer in my Mazda 626 in the early '90s. That was pretty cool! Now I just upload music to my iPhone and create play lists or whatever I want to do with it.

Date: 2023-03-06 10:37 pm (UTC)Six was common. Yeah, this one Pioneer did TEN CDs! It was great for road trips.
The changer was its own unit, mine was mounted under the passenger seat, IIRC. The disc magazine was almost 2" tall. A big cable plugged it into the controlling stereo in the dash. AND it had a remote-control!

Date: 2023-03-07 07:07 pm (UTC)Make sure your next car stereo features Bluetooth, get yourself a used iPod or used old smartphone. Use that as an MP3 player. You actually have to go out of your way to get a car stereo these days that has a CD player in it: one of the models that I looked at, the CD player also played DVD movies! I DO NOT need or want something like that when I'm driving! If someone wants to watch a movie, they can do it on a laptop or tablet with headphones.

Date: 2023-03-09 09:17 pm (UTC)I know your aversion to smart phones, which I will not debate, so this is one way to go without having to switch your cell plan over and buy one of the expensive wee time-suck beasties.

Date: 2023-03-06 10:44 pm (UTC)I will be using a local car stereo place, not the dealer. If your car is under warranty, get the dealer to fix your stereo. As far as CD changers are concerned, I wouldn't bet on them being very available these days as everyone is using phones paired to the stereo for loading up things like that. And if you don't have a smart phone, you can always buy an iPod or an old smart phone and just not activate it, and use it as an MP3 player. I had to do that last bit once when Apple eff'd up a podcast player update and it would stop after every play ended rather than continue on to the next podcast. Ended up buying a second generation iPhone while I was in Phoenix to use as an MP3/podcast player for my return 500 mile drive back to NM.
