Dear Rep. Peter King,
Just wondering if you have picked out sited for the concentration camps yet? Or is Guantanamo big enough for the American Muslim population?

Rep. Peter King: American Muslims Aren't "American"
posted by: Robin Marty

The new Republican controlled House seems fascinated with the idea of launching investigations, if Rep. Darrell Issa is any indication of the group mindset. But what do you get when you combine Issa's love of investigations with the GOP's new found fear-mongering Islamophobia?

You get Republican Congressman Peter King's insistence that Muslim Americans aren't, in fact, American.

Via Think Progress:

Rep. Peter King (R-NY), the new chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, has promised to launch a series of investigations of Muslim Americans beginning in February. “I’ve made it clear that I’ll focus the committee on counterterrorism and hold hearings on a wide range of issues, including radicalization of the American Muslim community and homegrown terrorism,” he told Newsday. King has repeatedly said that he only wants to single out “Islamic terrorism” in his hearings on domestic security, and has even claimed that there are “too many mosques in this country.”

Joining anti-Muslim conspiracy theorist Frank Gaffney on Gaffney’s radio program last week, King doubled down on his promise to launch a witch-hunt against Muslims. He repeated a falsehood that he stated earlier — that American Muslims never cooperate to combat terrorism. But in addition to this claim, King made the extraordinary smear that American Muslims aren’t “American” when it comes to war. “[W]hen a war begins,” King said, every ethnic and religious group unites as “Americans.” “But in this case,” King continued, referring to Muslims, “this is not the situation. … Whether it’s cultural tradition, whatever, the fact is the Muslim community does not cooperate anywhere near to the extent that it should”

Looks like 2011 is going to be yet another year of fanning the flames of bigotry in order to score political points. So much for the GOP's promise to focus on the economy.

I thought I would try a personal entry and give you all a brief break from my political rants.

Yesterday I had an MRI on my left foot and ankle. My sports medicine doctor wasn't satisfied with healing process my foot seems to have. So he ordered an MRI to see what's going on in there. He also said that if it didn't show anything I might be reaching the point where I will just have to have some pain. Yippy...

I am taking bets that the MRI doesn't show anything. Do I have any takers?

My appointment wasn't until 10 am. Which just happens to be my bedtime. UGH.....
When I checked in I asked if there were any cancellations so I might get an earlier time. The desk attendant didn't know, but she marked it down just in case.
Guess what, no cancellations for me. I got called back about 9:45 to the next waiting room. Then I was called back to the exam room shortly before 10.
They got me set up and rolled me into the magnet. Ended up just being from my waist down, so not bad that way.
They really are noisy, so I am glad they give you earplugs. I laid there watching the count down numbers a few times, and then closed my eyes. I actually nodded off because I didn't hear it end and then the attendant was next to me telling me that they were going to set up for the ankle part of it now. Okay. So I laid there and closed my eyes again. Sure enough I actually nodded off again and it was done. lol...... It was about 11:15 when I got out of there.
I got home shortly before noon and headed for bed. I must have woke up around 6 because I could here mom making supper. I forced myself to stay in bed and next think I know I woke up about 9:15. Sweet. :) I hope I sleep that well again today.
Now I just have to wait for the doctor to call me with the results.
Anybody want to bet that he will call at 2pm right in the middle of my sleep schedule? Another safe bet if you are willing. :(

Oh yeah, wish me luck. Although I am not sure if I want them to find something or not. :p

Medical Update.........

All betting windows have closed.
And the results are now ready for posting. :p

As for bet No. 1, results of the MRI?
Sure enough, it didn't show a thing in my foot.
The doctor said it did show a little tendonitis in the ankle, but no gout at the time of the scan.

So the results were exactly as I predicted. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Several hundred dollars down the drain.

As for bet No. 2, time the doc would call?
This bet wasn't so much a win, but still had it's own place in annoyanceville.
No the doctor did not call at 2pm in the middle of my sleep schedule. He called at 5pm during that last crucial of sleep. So I laid there trying to get back to sleep after talking to him.

Doctor's thoughts?
Looks like I am going to have to have some pain and move on, getting me out of the boot and moving about again. Yippy... He said to start slowing wheening out of the boot and to make an appointment with physical therapy for some strenghtening exercises for the foot an ankle, and I think he said to have a follow up with him in a couple of weeks or something like that.
My question is, am I going to go see a physical therapist, and get charged for it, just to get the same exercises I was given the last time I was wheened out of the boot. I have dished out way more than I want to for this. Thank God I have insurance that is covering most of it.

Anybody want to buy a once used snow blower that would cover the costs of this stupid MRI? LoL..............
