Fuck, Fuck, FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been sick since the end of last week and Monday I started to get the shaking chills again.

Talked to the nurse at Family Medicine.
She suggested I get swabbed.
You know where this is going...

I F'ing came back positive. I have Covid. :o :o :o
I have been so safe wearing my masks when in public, how the hell did I get infected. :o :o :o

Almost certainly an Omicron variant.

Fwiw it took us about ten days to get over it.

It was rather like a bad dose of 'flu.

Masks aren't the great protect all they're made out to be although they help a bit and I wish the 'experts' would stop pretending that they are- they protect others from you rather than you from others.

And of course I was two weeks away from getting the new Booster that helps cover Omicron. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really expected it to come back negative and that it was the flu, even though I got that vaccine too. UGH!!!!!!!!!

Having caught it means you'll have to wait a bit longer to get the booster (I think its three weeks but I may be wrong so check) and it's still worth getting.

That's what I was thinking too, but when I talked with Occupational Medicine at work, they said there really wasn't anything saying I couldn't still get the vaccine on my scheduled date.
We'll see how quickly I start feeling better. :o

Actually they (masks) do help protect both parties if BOTH wear masks. The problem is that way too many public places are no longer using or requiring them. Grocery Stores are big problem point, and are again becoming an infection point, as they no longer require compliance.

And well public transit was NOT updated in most places properly to filter for such things. They spent the money elsewhere (to be fair, here in the Boston area they were trying to stop problems like subway cars bursting into flames).

Sadly, dad went to the ER tonight, after yet another fall, and not surprised, he tested positive too. :(
I just hope this is the beginning of getting him into a nursing home. I just can't safely take care of him any more. :o

I hate to say it, but I really hope this will lead to getting him placed in a nursing home. I just can't take care of him, safely, any more. :o

At 19, I was my mom’s caregiver during her last year of cancer. I was my husband’s caregiver for the last 6 years of his life. So, I speak from personal experience when I assure you that YOU’VE DONE EVERYTHING YOU COULD FOR YOUR DAD.

And now, for his safety AND yours, it’s time for him to live where multiple staff can give him 24 hour care.

My prayer is that your guilt trip, if you have one, will be short. YOU DID EVERYTHING YOU COULD.

Still feeling pretty punk. :(

I am off at least through Saturday or Sunday as it's my weekend off.

It seems like when I try to do much of anything, it exhausts me quickly. :o

Dad is still in the hospital.
And not surprisingly, he tested positive too.
My one big fear about this damn virus was bringing it home to dad, and now I have. :o I am praying that he lucks out and stays symptom free. :o
I am hoping to get him in a nursing home, but it's not going to be easy with all the hoops that have to be jumped through. :o

Covid can come with long term fatigue. The best thing is to rest...really.

Good luck with your Dad. There are a ton of hooplas you say. If the hospital deems him an elder at risk then it may not be so hard getting him in. It will be a challenge dealing with all the financial, but at this point is is about hime being safe.

Other people obviously were not being as good about safety as you were somewhere and it managed to slip thru your defenses somewhere.

Not surprisingly he tested positive for the virus too.
My big fear was bringing it home to dad. :o I pray that he lucks out and doesn't get sick. :o

I am hoping that this will lead to getting dad into a nursing home. I just don't feel safe taking care of him at home any more. :(
