A Day In The Life.......
Aug. 1st, 2022 09:41 amI am sensing a trend here...
Got to work last night and surprisingly I wasn't floated from my station.
Then as I was walking down the hall to get report from one of the evening aides I met the charge nurse and she said I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I thought she was going to say, if we get an admit, you will have to sit with one of the patients.
NOPE...
She says, I have hired Patrick to work from 11pm to 3 am to help cover breaks and I put your name up on the board to float you if somebody else needs help.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are we hiring people to work extra and then floating the people we have, aka ME!!!!!!!!!!
I lucked out big time and none of the other stations took her up on the offer to take me. :o :o :o
And I don't understand why she hired a nurse to work from 11pm to 3am to help cover breaks.
There were only 2 patients that needed to have a nurse watch them while their nurse was on break.
The others could either be paired up with other nurses on the station or I could cover them.
Surely the charge nurse could have covered two patients.
Of course I had to cover the super confused screaming patient. Yes, the patient is still not sleeping and is screaming/hollering all night long.
I am trying to decide if it's worth wasting my breath and ask management what the F is going on with staffing our station.
