In The News.......
Mar. 1st, 2022 07:06 pmMore proof that Trickle Down Economics does NOT work...
I just read in the news paper that my employer had record setting operating income last year.
It rose 66% to $1.2 Billion.
I guess that is partially true.
They did give us $500 as a gratitude gift to thank us for all our hard work through the pandemic.
However, they do continue to screw the union employees.
They are giving an across the board 4% raise to their Non union employees.
We the union employees get the 2% negotiated in our contract.
That said, if you are lucky enough to be getting one of the "Step" raises in the contract, you could be getting more then 4%. However, my last "Step" raise was 20 years ago.
There has also been a lot of talk of a Retention Bonus.
So far just lots of talk.
And I am willing to bet that will never be offered to the union employees.
And lets be honest after 40 years, I don't think they care about my retention.
Okay, my whining is done for now. :p

Date: 2022-03-02 01:46 am (UTC)I grew up in coal & steel mill country. I know the importance of unions. It’s just that my experience with their protection was less than optimal.
Like you, I hit the wage ceiling about 10 years before I retired. No more ‘step’ increases.

Date: 2022-03-02 02:46 am (UTC)Thank goodness for that other manager. :o
I know we got what we have because of the union, but I don't think we are getting a lot more because of them now. Even after joining the bigger union. UGH.......
Same goes with earning vacation time too. I topped that earning probably more then 20 years ago. :o
