More proof that Trickle Down Economics does NOT work...

I just read in the news paper that my employer had record setting operating income last year.
It rose 66% to $1.2 Billion.

I guess that is partially true.
They did give us $500 as a gratitude gift to thank us for all our hard work through the pandemic.

However, they do continue to screw the union employees.
They are giving an across the board 4% raise to their Non union employees.
We the union employees get the 2% negotiated in our contract.
That said, if you are lucky enough to be getting one of the "Step" raises in the contract, you could be getting more then 4%. However, my last "Step" raise was 20 years ago.

There has also been a lot of talk of a Retention Bonus.
So far just lots of talk.
And I am willing to bet that will never be offered to the union employees.
And lets be honest after 40 years, I don't think they care about my retention.

Okay, my whining is done for now. :p

My unit closed & my position was eliminated in 2000. The only thing my damned union did was give me a business card of theirs. The only reason I got 20 more years of work was that a previous manager liked my performance & brought me to her department…where I stayed for 20 years.

I grew up in coal & steel mill country. I know the importance of unions. It’s just that my experience with their protection was less than optimal.

Like you, I hit the wage ceiling about 10 years before I retired. No more ‘step’ increases.

We were allowed to accumulate 240 hours of vacation a year & 240 hours of sick time. No rolling over, either.

Yeah, it IS nice to have Ohio State in my rear view mirror…

BTW, how’s the new unit?

I was a Retail Clerk back in the '80s and our union was fairly strong. Then in the late '90s when our newspaper ousted the union, sad.

I dunno. Sigh.

That mayo clinic has high profits, jeez.
