WTF News...................................

I chatted briefly, last night, with a former coworker/friend from my last station.
She said she would have to float over to my new station so she could tell me a few things.
But she did share one thing that lessened the pain of leaving my old station.
My nurse manager couldn't be bothered to help me change my schedule to get off the 12 hour weekend shifts, however my friend told me that the manager created a brand new straight 8 hour shifts position for a nurse that just came back from maternity leave because she didn't want to work 12 hour shifts any more and apparently plans to leave after awhile.
Now here's a little back ground information that makes this worse...
Some time ago, my old station decided to get rid of all 8 hour positions for nurses. They only kept the positions that were currently occupied at the time. Then as those nurses left or moved into 12 hour positions they would eliminate the 8 hour positions.
Now out of the blue manager makes a brand new position, that shouldn't exist, to accommodate a nurse that doesn't even have any seniority and apparently plans to leave.
I so wish I had the nerve to confront him about this. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like there is definitely some discrimination going on there or pressure to change the process that was being used from above. Looks like you got caught in the middle one way or the other.
