A Day In The Life.......
Oct. 3rd, 2021 04:39 pmI went up to Minneapolis last night for my second big night out.
I went up to see Al Franken's comedy tour, "The Only Former U.S. Senator On Tour".
Al started out as a writer/actor on the original Saturday Night Live. He moved on to things like book writing, radio programs, etc. Then he thankfully became one of Minnesota's U.S. Senators. The alternative that year was a horrible Republican. It came down to a recount of the votes because it was so close. During the show he described it as the Closest Knockout Victory. lol.......
Sadly Al was forced to resign from the Senate by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and her gang. He was convicted without trial of inappropriate contact. Thankfully we had a Democrat Governor and Al was replaced by then Lt. Governor Tina Smith.
Anyway, the show was a look back through his life and career. Very entertaining and some times quite touching.
Current Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar was even in the audience. She was one row behind Neil and I, but at the other end of our section of seats. Several people kind of looked familiar, so I am thinking there were a few Minnesota politicians in the audience.
The show was at the beautifully restored Pantages Theater in Minneapolis. It's the smallest of the three historic theaters in Minneapolis.
Sadly, for me personally, the customer service did not stand up the beauty of the theater.
It rained off and all on the drive up to Minneapolis and it was suppose to rain throughout the evening. So on the walk over to the theater, about 4-5 blocks, I took my new, expensive, umbrella. It's a full sized umbrella and not allowed in the theater because apparently they have been used as weapons in the past. The problem came in the fact that they did not have a secure place to keep my umbrella while I was in the show. They offered to let my lean it up against the wall "over there" or I could take it back to my vehicle.
After going around and around with them for a minute or two, I said screw it and took it back to my vehicle. Cursing all the way. Then when I get back to the ramp, it's locked up like Fort Knox. Thankfully a security guard came along and let me in. Turns out there is a phone number you are supposed to call to get let in. Gee, Thanks for advertising that.
So then I hoofed it back to the theater, again cursing all the way. By that time, this fat boy was sweating like a stuck pig. :o
Thankfully Al's show made up for that debacle.
So, go to the Pantages and enjoy a show, just don't expect any customer service.
