Dec. 13th, 2005 04:41 amI would like to say, that I have some really good news.
I was tested for AIDs, and other things along with my patient that beat on me last week, and all the tests came back negative.
I really wouldn't have thought all that much about the scratch he gave me on my hand, but as he was beating on us, and pulling his catheter out (hench the blood worry) he was telling us he had AIDs and we would have to deal with it.
This happened last Tuesday morning, and it just kind of nagged me in the back of my mind all week. So Friday morning, I asked my nurse manager if we could get him tested. She himed and hawed, and finally said, if we order he test up here he will get charged for it, so you should go to Health Services and work through them. So apparently she is more worried about the patient's bill, than she is worried about her staff. Thank you so much...
I got the phone call Sunday morning. It was good news. YAY....... However, my Hepetitis B vaccine shots that I got many years ago, apparently were no good. She said that mine read as negative and they should show up as positive so if you are exposed you can fight it off. So, yippy, I get to get the three shots AGAIN.
So anyway, I just wanted to let my friends know that I am okay.
