disneydream06Just a quick note before I head for home.
I just wanted to let everyone know what a wonderful night I had a work. I got to sit with a confused patient. He came back from surgery that way, and was pleasantly confused all night. Then 6 am arrived and he went completely off the deep end. He started hitting and kicking. He pulled out his catheter. That will hurt later when he realizes what happened. So there I am trying to hold him down, waiting for the nurses to get some restraints. He starts trashing, and I don't know if he got me with a fingernail or what, but all of a sudden the back of my right hand was bleeding. At first I thought it was the patient's blood, so I just wiped it off on the sheet. It kept bleeding so I realized that, yes it was my own blood. I cleaned it off, and filled out an incident report. Did my nurse manager give a rip??? HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I am off to buy some antibiotic ointment and hope that it doesn't get infected. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
