Today's song comes in at No. 83 on the list.
"The Rose" by Bette Midler from the movie of the same name, "The Rose" from 1979.
I remember when this movie came out, I was still too young to see an R rated movie, and thought really hard about trying to fake my way in, but I didn't. Too much of a chicken. :p
I wish I could find the ending of the movie where she sings the song. It breaks my heart every time I watch it. This video comes from a concert she did instead.

I remember how much air time that song got at the time... it was on at least once an hour on the major pop music stations.

Isn't the Rose (the movie) about Janis Joplin.

It was always assumed it was about Janis Joplin, but I don't think anybody ever said so officially. :)
