Vacation Update.........
Feb. 5th, 2019 03:11 pmWednesday January 30th:
The plan was to take Maggie in to my friend's
thirteenrocks place and he was going doggie sit for me. Then I was going to drive up to Minneapolis at 2 am, park in a downtown ramp and take the light rail train out to the airport.
That plan went out the window when I couldn't get my vehicle started because of a dead battery.
I called AAA right away and got on the waiting list to get my battery jumped. It would be a 40 minute wait.
Then I went on line to see about getting a shuttle ride up to the airport. I talked with
thirteenrocks about staying at his place and getting a ride downtown Rochester to catch the shuttle at shortly after 3 am. He was gracious enough to do that for me.
So I got the vehicle started and got Maggie up to
thirteenrocks and then drove home and he followed me so I could leave my vehicle at home and gave me a ride back to his place.
Fast Forward to 3am, and there were 6 of us riding the shuttle up to the Minneapolis airport.
When did everybody start flying out first thing in the morning. I was flying out of the smaller of the two terminals and there was a really long line already of people checking in.
When I finally boarded the plane I had the exit aisle to myself until they started playing musical chairs because a couple with a baby in a car seat couldn't use it in the seat they were trying to. So a couple in another row offered to change and they got put in my aisle. Annoying because I now has seat mates, and the fact that I paid extra to sit in the exit aisle, and these guys now got it for free. Then the other couple couldn't get the car seat to work in their new seats anyway and it had to go in checked baggage. Ugh...
We finally got away from the gate and deiced and headed on our way to Portland, Oregon. Had and hour and a half lay over while they cleaned and restocked the same plane we came in on. We reboarded and this time I got to have my row of seats to myself. YAY for some room. :)
It was a long 5 hour ride across the ocean.
I think the back mountain is Mt. Hood if I remember correctly...

Supposedly, the Pacific Ocean is under there some where...

One of my first glimpses of Hawaii...
