I couldn't sleep, so why not read, huh?
I just finished up book No. 23.
I read "Dirty Doc Ames and the Scandal That Shook Minneapolis" by Erik Rivenes.
It's the true story of a man who was elected mayor of Minneapolis, Mn four separate times. None of those times were "innocent", but the last time was picture perfect political corruption. He put his brother in charge of the police department. He fired approximately half the police force and replaced them with hand picked, usually unqualified, people that would be loyal to him. He took protection money from brothels, bars, gamblers. So basically standard practices.
And even more standard practices, when he was finally brought to trial he was found guilty only to have the conviction over turned by the Minnesota Supreme Court.
