A Day in the Life.........
Jun. 30th, 2018 08:19 amJust a few silly things to catch up on I guess...
Thursday night I went to the movies.
They had a special showing of the Broadway musical, Bandstand: The Broadway Musical.
I didn't know the show, but I thought I would check it out, even with the high ticket price, for a movie, $18. Still a LOT cheaper then a theater ticket to see it live. lol...
It tells the story of returning WWII veterans dealing with ghosts from their time at war. The main character is a musician who is trying to get back into the business, but who is now considered too old. Bayer Aspirin is holding a contest to find a song to be used in a new movie. So he decides to form a band of all veterans. Then convinces the wife of his best buddy, who died in the war, to join as their female singer. They win their state competition but then are told they have to finance their own way to NYC for the final competition and even then aren't guaranteed a spot in the finale. They play every little gig they can get to raise money, and still come up short. But one of the guys that owns one of the places they play at over hears their predicament and starts raising money to help them. They get to NYC and make it into the finale. Just before they go on they find out that if they win they lose all rights to their song and would even have to pay rights fees if they ever play it again. So they go out and play a different song that is considered quite controversial because it talks about all the problems some Vets are having after returning from the war. They lose the contest of course, but get a big career in the music business. :)
I left the theater, drove home, and emptied my pockets only to realize I didn't have my phone any more. :o So I drove back to the theater and explained to the box office and she said nothing was showing on that screen yet, so I was allowed to go back in and look for my phone. I dug around in the seat and thankfully finally found it. :o
Oh yeah, before the movie, I stopped at our local Toys R Us store to see if there was anything worth getting in the Going Out of Business sale. I think it was the second to last day before they closed up for good.
What a waste of time. They didn't have enough stuff in there to fill one aisle. I did pick up to calendars that are now half done(2018) and two activity books from the Disney movie Inside Out. Total cost just short of $5. :p Probably would have cost me $50 or more at full price. lol.....
So I left there and went over and spent money at Barnes and Noble instead. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Friday I was naughty and ordered pizza for supper.
I paid with a credit card and they have the nerve to have their little machine set up to ask if you want to give a tip. SERIOUSLY????? You make fast food pizza, and I had to drive in to pick it up, and you want a tip for that? I hit the No Tip button. :o
Tonight I start my second weekend of 12 hour shifts, so I will probably be falling behind again here in journal land and email country. Please bear with me.
