I went to see the new Disney movie Beauty and the Beast last night.
It's a live action version of their classic animated movie.
It Was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw it on an IMAX screen in 3D. Gotta admit there were a few 3D effects that had me ducking the flying objects. lol...
The Beast's castle was amazing. I would love to be able to walk through it.
I am not a big fan of CGI effects, but they did a great job of it in this movie. The beast hada lot of CGI, but he always looked like he was actually walking side by side with Belle.
I think Emma Watson did a nice job as Belle, but as another friend said, it's a role that almost anybody could do.
They followed the animated story fairly faithfully. Adding some things here and there.
The Beast gets a song after he releases Belle to go home to save her father that was really great. I hope the Academy remembers it next year for Oscar nominations.
There was some minor uproar about the gaying of the character LeFou and his pining for Gaston. I don't think it was that big of a deal. I don't think it was needed, but I think it was a nice add. Of course Gaston was oblivious to the attraction. He was too busy looking at himself in the mirror. lol.....
Gotta admit, I was bawling at the end, first sadly, and then happily. :o

I give it a grade of A+.

Boxofficemojo says it's the biggest March opener and I think it was the 7th biggest opener ever. :o
Next weekend will be a big challenge because there are 3 big new movies opening.

ok ok, I will comment - I have a BIG issue with all of the Disney live-action movies as it is and the original Disney's Beauty and the Beast is dear in my heart. The voice of Belle alone was bastardized by Emma Watson in the singing and well, the British accent! Anyway, I didn't see the movie, obviously but the trailer was enough for me to cry over. So if anyone really enjoys it, let them, but I can't condone any of the Disney live-actions and more importantly, this one. Has Disney really ran out of money/imagination that they need to do this?

Not sure if it goes back to 101 Dalmations, but it just takes one hit movie to start a trend. So, until they have a big old bomb they will probably keep making them. I have liked them for the most part. Although I would prefer new stories any day. :)

the French are strange when it comes to titles of films. Some are exactly the same, some are translated but means the same and then some they change all together. it's difficult when I am in a used DVD shop looking for something!

That is what's so disappointing about Disney's CEO sitting on Cheeto's board. They have always been supportive of the LGBT community, and it's really a slap in the face of all minorities to be that supportive of Cheeto. :o :o :o

Oh dear all the fuss about LeFou ... I had so much of this on my tumblr dash and I was like "No big deal, darlings. OMG you tell people not to watch it because of that O.o"
Hands down I always thought that he would like Gaston a bit too much (not as kid but when i was a bit older and watched the movies)
What I read oon tumblr is that there is another gay character in the movie? (haha all these shipper of clogsworth and lumiere shippers)

TBH the actor they choose to play Gaston is handsome and I wouldn't have said No to him xD

I plan on seeing the movie too since BATB is one of these Disney movie I grew up with and from what I already saw it looks pretty awesome

yeah, but sometimes I think they just take the theme too far.
As now with star wars.. how many sequals are they planning to make.
They know they have many huge fans who will pay every single time, but in a way it's sad they would drain a certain theme that far that in the end a decent story gets lost

The new Beauty and the Beast, as of Friday, is the 12 biggest movie ever put out by Disney. :o
The original animated movie is only No. 63. :o

I just saw it for a second time tonight. Still loving it. :)
So beautifully staged and filmed. :)
The theater has a cheapy night Tuesdays for their IMAX screen, so maybe I will go back for a third helping. lol.....
