disneydream06: (Book Reading)

Well, I did it. I finished up No. 50 last night. I finally had some time to read after the patient I was sitting with kind of tanked and had to get re-intubated.
I read "Nemesis" by Agatha Christie. It's another of the Miss Marple stories.
This time she is kind of hired to solve a problem/issue by the wealthy guy she had met in the Caribbean on another crime spree. :p He has since died but through his lawyers he sends Miss Marple on a journey to solve an old crime that involves his bad seed son. Several girls had been killed over the country side, and this man's son was convicted of one of them and sent to prison. But, you guessed it, he was innocent and Miss Marple figured out what had really happened.
I think I only have one, maybe two Miss Marple stories left in this collection. :o

Oh, and don't hold your breath for 50 books again next year. LOL...........

It really was. It sounded vaguely familiar. I wonder if I have seen a tv version of it some time.

There a Joan Hickson version. She did them all, I think. I have the box set.

Every once in awhile Barnes & Noble will have dvds of British TV shows on sale, and I have been tempted to pick up some of the Miss Marple series, but even on sale they have been pricey. :o
I do have the Margaret Rutherford collection though. She was my first Miss Marple and so my favorite even if the stories are true to the books.

I like the Margaret Rutherford films, but she's not the Miss Marple Agatha Christie wrote. I think Joan Hickson was perfect - and the actress Christie wanted to play Miss Marple (though Hickson was too young during Christie's lifetime).

Margaret Rutherford was definitely not the "frail" Miss Marple in the books. lol........
