I just LOVE John Oliver! He brings such awful issues to the news in such a funny way, and then he does something about what he reports on.
I know he is a comedian but to me he seems like a reporter, you know?

We do have all the pay channels on one of our tvs, but I am considering getting rid of all of them except maybe HBO. I really don't watch them any more, so why are we still paying for them? Ugh.....

That is very cool. I only have a few yoga DVDs and no DVD player, well maybe an old one in the garage. We just use the DVR a lot.

I have a dvd recorder/vcr that is having some issues. With the cable signal going through the machine I get a B&W picture, but if I play a dvd or tape it's in color. UGH...

Ugh! See that is the thing, I don't want to have to play around with wires and unhook my DVR and then hook up a DVD player. Maybe this new TV has a place to have both hooked up, I should look.
Always something eh? I miss the days of videos :-)

Ahh, I don't have a DVR. :p Call me cheap. lol...
It's really sad, that I have all these old video tapes and most of them are going bad. :( try to transfer them to dvd, and the playback isn't good on them any more. :( All those shows and movies I have lost. :(

Yes it really was. But it was my nieces boyfriend who lived with us. And then him and his dog moved in for 2 months. Back then we already had 3 dogs :-o
But the guy was pretty broke - so it was a nice gesture. They both moved to North Carolina, him and my niece, and then she broke up with him. Now she is with a really sweet guy, the father of their baby.

Oops, that was quite the rambling saga, so sorry :-D

where did he get the 60k to buy the debt?

and what happens to the hospitals, doctors, etc. who were owed the money?

great that people in limited means don't have to pay
i have great sympathy with that

but what happens to those owed?
some are big guys who can eat it but some may be your local doctor with a nurse, a receptionist and his own bills

I would imagine it was a tax write off for the show/network.
