Book Reading.......
Mar. 31st, 2016 08:23 amI got a book behind on reviews, so here are my last two reads.
Book No. 12 was Detective Strongoak and the Case of the Dead Elf by Terry Newman.
It reads very much like an old 50's detective movie. Only the main character is a dwarf, and the citizens of the community are dwarfs, men, elves, goblins, trolls, and other such creatures. Strongoak was a fun character, because he was the typical gum shoe detective that is never impressed with anybody no matter how much money they had.
The storyline felt very modern in that it involved things like bigotry against other races, and politics involved with that issue.
I wouldn't say it was a GREAT read, but I enjoyed it, and if Mr. Newman ever writes another, I would read it. :)
Book No. 13 was Sizzling Sixteen by Janet Evanovich.
It's the next book in the Stephanie Plum bounty hunter series. It didn't feel over deep, even for a Stephanie Plum book, but it was a lot of fun to read. You can't go wrong when Stephanie and Lula are being chased by a six foot alligator in the middle of Trenton, NJ, or being rescued by "hobbits". LOL..........
Book List 2016:
1. Schooled in Revenge by Jesse Lasky
2. A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie
3. Kicking and Dreaming by Ann & Nancy Wilson with Charles R. Cross
4. The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
5. A Kingdom Keepers Adventure: The Syndrome:Finders Keepers Losers Sleepers by Ridley Pearson
6. The Carpet People by Terry Pratchett
7. The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

"Jersey weird" goes only so far before it overwhelms the plot
the weird is supposed to be the condiment not the main course
