Just finished up reading book No. 7, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.
I have seen parts of the book that have been made into movies/animated shorts, and it was pleasant to read those sections.
Overall, it was a good book, and enjoyable read.
The only thing I didn't care for was the over use, imho, of adjective/adverbs. It is a very descriptive book.
One section where Mr. Rat goes off to tour the world felt really out of place in the book. It didn't feel like Mr. Rat in the rest of the book.

Book List 2016:
1. Schooled in Revenge by Jesse Lasky
2. A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie
3. Kicking and Dreaming by Ann & Nancy Wilson with Charles R. Cross
4. The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
5. A Kingdom Keepers Adventure: The Syndrome:Finders Keepers Losers Sleepers by Ridley Pearson
6. The Carpet People by Terry Pratchett
7. The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

The Christmas chapter is one of the sections that I have seen an animated short made about. :) I do like that story. :)
I knew it was older, but I didn't know exactly when it was written. :)

We found a book called Return to the Willows at the grocery store for $3.50. My mom read it after the original book and really enjoyed it even though the sequel is not from the original author.

You are rockin it with your book! :-)

I am in the middle of reading a pretty silly/stupid mystery. That is what I get for going for the free books, LOL!

I tried to get some free books on my Nook when I first got it, but the transfers or whatever you want to call it were awful. Sentences or whole pages would be missing. :o

My Nook will still do that every once in awhile with certain books, a paragraph or a page will be lost. What I do is I make the font smaller, and then it is there. I read it and a few pages later I make the font bigger again.

Lately I go to shop and put in a certain type of mystery and do the sort from low price to high and some ok free ones show up, not great but OK.

But I don't even know if you are still using a Nook ;-)

I remember reading Wind in the Willows to my children when they were small. I'll have to give it another read.

I think it would be worth it. :)
And another friend said there was a sequel written by another author. :o

I think I read this one last year...Very good, even if Disney changed a few things...

I think the two animated shows I have seen are from Disney. The Christmas one I think is fairly true to the story. :)
The feature movie is kind of hodgepodge. :p

If you get the chance, see if you can watch the 2006 BBC version. It is beautifully shot, stars some great actors and for some reason I find it massively relaxing.
The whole thing is up on youtube (although I am not sure if it will be blocked where you are!)

It was really enjoyable. Haven't been able to say that about many of the "classic" books I have read. :o
