It does puzzle me a little, but isn't Thanksgiving about being thankful for what one has (or have I got that completely wrong?) - and Black Friday is about coveting what one hasn't got (and getting it).

Sadly our national holiday for giving thanks has just turned into another sales day for retail.
Black Friday use to start Friday morning. Then they started opening during Thursday night. That soon became Thursday evening, and now some places are just staying open all day Thursday.

Retailers here would do the same on Christmas if they could. As it is, the post-Christmas sales start online on Christmas Day - and at least one clothes stores opens at 5 or 6am on Boxing Day! You're really so desperate for clothes you are willing to do that..? Because that's what Christmas is all about...

I don't know the store, it's obviously not here, but I would shop there for that reason. :)

It is the most wonderful store in the world! They carry nice shoes for walking, hiking stuff and darling yoga clothes.
Gene has a credit card sponsored by them and each year we get dividends from what he puts on his c/c. Like $400 worth of dividends! Then we go shopping there.
