Please know I am not knocking anybody that owns a gun, but...

This is a question I think everybody should ask their Congressmen and Senators...

Who has to be killed in order for you to act on gun safety?

Well here n the UK most of us do not own guns. I would guess that the majority of us do not unless we are farmers or poachers etc.

Sadly I think non gun owners are in the minority here. Or maybe it's the silent majority. :(

Well it does seem easier to own one in the USA than here.

And another Black man was killed by the police in Florida. :(
No witnesses, just the cops word. :(

One could put the question another way round: As long as the Gulf states where guns are up to end up in who-knows-whose hands still receive guns and war weaponry from the Western states, never stop claiming "guns first in the hands of your own citizens, and not limiting by >>they ought to have none<<".

As an outsider looking in, I find the love of guns in your country very strange and very scary. Each time a school is targeted and children die I think that something must happen. But nothing does. It is beyond my understanding.

That is the point of my question, all these children are being murdered, but Congress does nothing. Would they finally act if somebody walked into each of their houses next week and killed one member of their families?

i own guns. and i am FOR gun safety. i remember when i was a kid, the NRA came in and did safety demonstrations (with cap pistols and cap rifles) so that kids would know what to do if they found a gun. they also encouraged kids to show their parents leaflets on how to use a gun safe and trigger locks. (and coloring books, can't forget those!)

but yeah. the war on people of color is A Thing. personally, people are people. the only reason to pull a gun is if you are planning to USE it, and i haven't done anything more than plinking at a gun range, ever. i don't hunt...not against hunting, i just don't do it. i'm not committing crimes. i don't feel a need to have a carry licence.

do i think that guns have their place? obviously. i also feel that the gun shows thumb their noses at wait periods, and that there are plenty of times that the "we're gonna buy your guns then destroy them" falls short of actually WORKING.

and if we actually MADE JOBS in this country, provided decent wages for living, taught RESPECT FOR OTHERS in the classroom (half the school shootings recently [or more] have been young men who are howling that life isn't fair that they didn't get the beautiful girl and sex they were promised), and taught the fucking POLICE to respect the folks they were hired to protect, i honestly believe that the number of shootings would be reduced.

but i believe in faeries, too.

I think we have a better chance with the fairies. :)

I don't understand the US's insistence on owning guns and why there aren't much, much stricter regulations. I guess the lobby has a lot of power and money (which you know matters more than collateral damage lives). And ordinary citizens hanging onto the second ammendment, who don't even understand what that ammendment actually says and what its purpose was.

The second amendment drives me insane. :(
Or maybe I should say their definition of the second amendment drives me insane.

And I misspelled that...twice! Boo! LOL

I don't think there is anyone important enough to kill in order to create such a break-through in your country

From: [identity profile] thespian15.livejournal.com
My thinking was, if they are "so upset" about all these killings, but don't do anything, would they do something if somebody in each of their families was murdered?

Oh dear.. that IS kinda drastic isn't it?

It's probably the only way they would ever do anything. :(

I hear you, loud and clear. Even if they just outlawed the magazines and tightened down on gun registration, it could really help. The NRA has way too much power in this country. I feel we are a gun lovin country :-(

It drives me insane when politicians/people say, you can't stop it so why regulate it? ARGH..........

That is a terrible thing for them to say, arghh!
