Jul. 19th, 2015 06:02 amI had a super great time at the show last night.
I was in row A, but that ended up being the third row because they added two rows of "orchestra" seating.
Paula came out a few minutes after 8pm and was on stage for almost a few 2 hours.
She is a fantastic comedian. You never feel like you are watching a scripted/planned show. She interacts with the audience a lot and never misses a beat. The poor two ladies siting in front of me that came in late. LOL......................
She had a Meet and Greet after the show for anybody that wanted to come up and get an autograph or just to chat. I bought a couple more of her cds and had her sign one and also one that I brought along. As I stepped up to meet her she got this quizical look on her face and asked if we had met before. I said that we had met when she performed at the Guthrie a couple of years ago. She remembered me? :o
Meeting Paula Poundstone

Paula on Stage

Entrance of the Fitzgerald Theater
It is also where Garrison Keillor performs his Prairie Home Companion shows which Paula has done occasionally

A couple of churches down at the end of the street

Kitty Corner across from the Fitzgerald are the Scientologists lol......

Some of the statues that have been placed around the Twin Ciites over the years.
Peanuts Characters outside a candy store, and a Dinosaur outside a music college across the street from the Fitzgerald

Date: 2015-07-20 01:27 am (UTC)I think the only thing saving them was being churches, and the Twin Cities loving theater. :)
Good reason to show up early. :)

Date: 2015-07-20 11:23 pm (UTC)I Love Paula Poundstone!
I used to watch her all of the time whenever she had a show on tv. I didn't even know she was still touring. The last I heard, she was up on some sort of child abuse charge...it's so good to hear that she's worked that and her drinking problems out.
I hope she comes to Atlanta soon!...

Date: 2015-07-24 02:42 am (UTC)I love Paula. I saw her once about four or five years ago. It was a show at a college during Parents Week, so a lot of the humor was geared toward that crowd, but I still got a kick out of her -- she's just so... unusual yet normal. ha.
And she wrote one of my favorite quotes ever:
"There are those wonderful moments of clarity in life when one is reminded how irreparably flawed we humans are. Once, when I was nineteen, on the subway in Boston I lost my balance slightly and bumped into an elderly woman. I quickly apologized and she replied, "Well, hold on to something, stupid." There it is. That's it. That's it in a nutshell. I don't want to sound negative, but I think every fetus should be shown a film of that incident, maybe projected up on the uterine wall, and then asked if it wants to come out. I am a strong believer in a woman's right to choose, but I also think that in the last trimester, the kid should be given every opportunity to back out."
SO TRUE.

Date: 2015-07-24 05:45 am (UTC)I LOVE that quote. It totally sounds like her. :)
Nowadays, I wonder how many fetuses would change their minds? :o
Thank you so much for the compliment about the picture. :)
