i can understand that, as a survivor of sexual abuse. yeah, i could say my abusers' names, but all it does is remind me of it. allowing those exact records to be released, and names possibly leaked if a copy did NOT have the names redacted?

not right. and the reports have already been leaked with the names redacted, so...yeah.

there's no good answer for the victims.

I don't understand how his parents could protect him when supposedly some of the victims are his own sisters. :o

i stewed about this for a couple of hours last night. and i googled all the crappy things that family does (making the oldest kids PARENT the younger ones, etc).

the parents remove ALL privacy from the kids. no diaries, no privacy in email or texts, the parents snoop in their drawers, and evesdrop on their telephone calls. the kids are homeschooled, so they don't get any healthy peer interaction that their parents are not involved in, such as church activities. and even when they find someone to date, they do not get any privacy, they are ALWAYS chaperoned.

as a teenager, he had NO chance to have any NORMAL sexual expression. so he acted out with the people available to him. so he acts out. the parents find out. they cover it up out of shame that one of their perfectly raised children did this.

i am NOT SAYING that i back what he did, far from it. but given the pressures that he was under? it's understandable that he acted out in some way. he needed REAL help, not to be shuffled off to some guy in their church community who was building a warehouse (which is what really happened, not the "christian healing facility" that they're claiming).

lots of mixed feelings there from me, i know. but he was a teenager. he fucked up big time...and his family fucked up FURTHER by doing nothing about it and hiding the fact. (for the record...i never told on my cousin. i was...7? 8? full sexual act. karma bit him in the ass, though, my uncle [his father] molested HIS daughter. and i hate that it happened to his daughter, too. my uncle served time, for molesting his granddaughter and a cousin of ours.)

I always have to laugh at parents of this LARGE families that claim they are taking care of their kids. NO YOU ARE NOT... It's not possible unless your kids become second parents. ARGH...........

Prison is not good enough. Castration should be included. :o

I can see them letting it back on air when all the furore calms down a bit unfortunately. I don't think he is still on it anyway, is he?

I am sure all TLC cares about is the money the show is making them. :(
I thankfully have never watched the show, so no idea if he's on it or not. I just always assumed the whole family is around. :o

The whole situation is really fucked up. Though the fact that the police ripped up his record is irrelevant. (And was only given a sentence in the article despite the headline) The case was forced to be dropped because of a technicality that I blame the parents for. They waited too long to do anything about it so the stature of limitations went into effect, forcing them to drop the case. That family is fucked in the head and if our CPS system wasn't so fucked up I'd say the kids should all be taken. But chances are throwing them in the system would be worse instead of better.
