High tea is a very Scottish thing which his mum used to do occasionally- it's a meal with sandwiches and cakes and scones and such and, of course, tea.

There are blends which always have been and still are popular like PG, Typhoo and Tetley, but a lot of us go for the more specialist single leaf black teas these days as they have a lot more variety. Green teas are more popular than they were too.

Much the same sort of thing in England but the ingredients would be a bit different- cucumber sandwiches for example and probably not scones which are very Scottish- maybe crumpets instead.
