Think I once heard about the abortion issue in Latin America. In general, it's having a hard time in the countries in South America. Allegedly the blame for this goes to the conservative classes and the church.
Don't know how it's about in those countries which have turned red, but obviously those countries which have been plagued by military dictatorships, fascism (Pinochet) and which these days are friend to the Western economical circle do have a lot of problems with this.

Well, you can see it on the resonance as Pope Francis reached his position. The church still seems to be very important throughout South America, especially the Catholic part. And as long there's nobody (no state) to stop them, they obviously still represent an agenda like during their bests.
