FINALLY got my first book of the new year read.
It's hard to read on break at work when your eyes want to keep closing or when you just aren't getting breaks...

Anyway, my first book this year was "The Gestapo" by Carsten Dams & Michael Stolle.
Can't say I can really recommend it. It read like you were listening to a really dull college professor giving a lecture. Well, I am guessing that as I never went to college. :p
They spent a lot of time saying how the Gestapo weren't really all that bad, that others were involved in their "crimes". Then in the next paragraph they would list all these horrors that the Gestapo had done.
It was really sad to read about the follow up to the war. The war crime trials or should I say lack there of. The vast majority of Gestapo agents and other war criminals were let off scott free. Many of the higher ranking officers finding positions within the new German governments(East and West).

On to lighter/easier reading. :)

Book List 2015:
1. The Gestapo by Carsten Dams & Michael Stolle

Hey, but mine first needs to be good enough to be published in Dutch, and THEN it needs to be good enough to be translated in different languages.
Your friend might have had a serious head-start here

Well, Mary self published hers.
It would be so great if a company would publish them, but...

Self-publishing is no option for me.
Either way they want it, or they don't.

I don't mind to need someone who must polish it up.
Any publisher will do so and that's okay.

Ah well.. we'll see how it turns out

And the last sin to the whole story is - the whole keeping it under the carpet by the new West German government (at least there I get to hear most of the stories of it) just until the people have died or - even further than that - until the present.

It's sad that the message I took away from the book was, They were just doing their job.
Thankfully I know better.

That is the phrase that is often used in connection with the war crimes of the Third Reich, especially if someone still wants to come up with financial claims.
Every former Stasi employee is suspected of a personal intention for his participation, in comparison to that.
