Last night I went to the Twin Cities to see Roseanne Cash in concert. She is one of Johnny Cash's daughters.
It was at a small auditorium on a college campus. So it was nice and intimate. I had a second row seat, but was basically in the front row because the curved towards the end, and I had an end seat. :)
She was promoting her new album, The River and the Thread.
She did two sets. The first was about an hour long and she played the album from beginning to end. It was really good. She talked about each song and how she came to write it. It's all about a trip through the South.
Then they took a break, and then came back out and did a set of previous hits. Thankfully she did sing Seven Year Ache, but sadly she didn't sing I Don't Know Why You Don't Want Me. :(

She did a really nice version of Ode to Billie Joe though. :) She had talked about seeing the real T' Bridge while she was talking about one of the songs from her new album. :) Then in the second set she say Ode. :)

Bobbie Gentry did an amazing original version, but Roseanne could do it justice as well...

Sadly, I don't think she has ever made it "big". Seven Year Ache and I Don't Know Why were probably her biggest hits back in the 80s.

By the way, how far from the Twin Cities are you? I was thinking you lived in Minneapolis for some reason.

If any had, I doubt they would have charted very high. Had to listen to Country radio to hear most of those.

CBS 'Sunday Morning" recently did a really nice piece about her and the new music she was working on.

It's about that trip through the south which inspired her..

It was really fun listening to hear go through the album from beginning to end and talk about each song and the meanings/stories behind them. :)

Thanks for sharing the show clip. :) It's cool to see some of the things she talked about. :)
