Movie Review.....

I went to the movies last night and saw "Maleficent".

It's the new Walt Disney movie that tells the story of Maleficent, the evil fairy from the story Sleeping Beauty.

The easy review would be one word...
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is simplay WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my pet peeves of modern movies is the over use of CGI. There is quite a bit in Maleficent, BUT it doesn't feel like it. The human actors and the CGI feel like one. I never felt like I was looking at human actors superimposed into a fake surrounding or surrounded by fake characters.
Angelina Jolie was SUPERB in the role of Maleficent. Other then not having the green skin that Maleficent has in the animated version, Miss Jolie looks just like Maleficent. WOW...
Maleficent's sidekick from Sleeping Beauty the crow, Diaval, is in this movie, but with a bigger role. Maleficent frequently changes him into human form. He's not quite a Jiminy Crickey conscience, maybe closer to being a sounding board for her plans. The mighty Maleficent actually does need somebody.

The movie does not have the same outcome as Sleeping Beauty does, but they are not trying to retell that story. This is Maleficent's story.

Disney spent a fortune making this movie and the results really show in the final product.
I see myself going back to see this movie at least one more time.

I wish my review could do better justice to the movie. It deserves it.

Grade: A+, Two Thumbs Up, GO SEE THE BLOODY MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a cinema in your town? When I lived in Jackson we had to go to a town in Iowa to see a movie.

I have to drive into Rochester. Thankfully they built one on the South end of town now. So I don't actually have to go into the city. :)

I went to the 2D on the "big" screen. I am not that big of a fan of 3D, plus the cost. If I go back, I may try the 3D though.

I was going to go see it on the IMAX screen up at the zoo tonight, but the weather did not cooperate. :o
It's only up there for a week, so, if I want to see it on the IMAX screen, I will probably have to call in sick one night this week. :( Or leave home EARLY and try to get back to Rochester in time for work. eep... :o

Sadly, Mother Nature is dampening my attempt to go see the IMAX showing tonight. LOTS of rain and thunderstorms. :(
So if I want to see it, I will have to *cough cough* call in and go during the week. STUPID theater is only running it a week, and then giving the theater over of Tom Cruise's new flix. SERIOUSLY??? When was the last hit movie he's had? ARGH........

I first woke up today around 2pm. Fell back to sleep and woke up to a thunderstorm rolling through. Power went out. And one roll of thunder literally shook the house. :o

I saw it this weekend myself.
I"m not sure what I expected, but it wasn't what I expected - in a good way if that makes any sense.
I guess 'cos I'm in video production for a profession, I notice CGI. I don't think there was a single scene in this movie that wasn't shot on green screen and the backgrounds added in post, but I could be wrong. I found myself constantly looking for it!

I don't have your eye, but normally my eyes are pulled to that kind of stuff because I am not a fan of it, but this one didn't do that too me.
Although I have no doubt it was one big CGI film.

I found out that the IMAX theater up at the Minnesota Zoo is running it for the week. I was going to go up Sunday night to see it, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Rainy stormy weather. :( I either need to try and go up and get back in time for work, or *cough cough* call in sick. lol...
Really annoying is that they are giving over the IMAX to the new Cruise movie for at least a couple of weeks. Maleficent has to be a more family friendly movie. :(
