depends on the state. apparently in the state of texas? 9 is the limit. they won't issue that 10th marriage licence, no matter HOW the previous marriages ended. (as in, death VS divorce)
if they were all that involved in "protecting marriage"...they'd get help for people who are really having marital difficulties, and see if they can save the damn marriage.
because honestly? my second daughter, brian, and his husband are two of the loveliest people i know. even if they ARE silly and cannot train a dog to save their lives. (they have a great dane, lola. lola is not ill behaved, but is rambunctuous. Miss Satan goes over, tells lola ONCE to sit, and that dog's butt hits the floor. lola's gone through clases, knows how to behave...but they don't know how to put the bass in their voice and actually give a damn command, LOL)

I always wanted to petition the Republicans that hate Gay Marriage to create a law that outlaws divorce. If they are serious about "protection" marriage, divorce should be a bigger threat. :p
and any heterosexual idiot can get married with the cost of the judge and a licence. it takes a LOT more paperwork, money, and annoyance to get a divorce, even when it's a GOOD idea. (the evil ex? abusive. broken bones abusive. nice guy.) (that was sarcasm.)
second divorce, we were stopping BEFORE we got ugly at one another. we worked together for the sake of the kids. we never used the kids against one another, we agreed on everything before the paperwork was filed. the biggest bitch about this was actually pushing the paperwork THROUGH.
i'd be more worried about forcing an abused person stay with their abuser.
Oh no, I totally agree with you about not forcing somebody to stay in a horrible marriage, but nobody can claim to be protecting marriage when they allow divorce and annulments to be allowed. Pure and simple hypocricy on their behalf. :o
