May. 7th, 2014 12:19 amIn my neck of the woods.....
There is a little town in Southern Minnesota whose school has a No Tolerance Policy, like most schools do nowadays.
Unfortunately, this little town and the Minnesota Republican Senators don't think this policy should be used against everybody.
Recently an honor student "accidently" brought a knife to school with her in her backpack. Instead of taking the knife to the office and giving it to them, this honor student put it in her locker.
Apparently word got around, and the knife was found in her locker. The school board, under heavy pressure to ignore the issue did the correct thing and expelled the honor student.
One night on the news a guy from the town had the nerve to go on television and state that he supports the No Tolerance Policy, but not in this case. EXCUSE ME?????????? So actually you DON'T support the No Tolerance Policy then, do you?
NOW, the Minnesota state senators are sticking their noses into this and have sent a letter to the school board apparently telling them they were wrong to expell this honor student.
SERIOUSLY??????????????????????
The Republican Party is constantly telling us how they are against Big Government and Big Government interfering in our lives. Yet, the US Congressional Republicans went on the record opposing a husband's right to take his wife off life support, and now the Minnesota state Republicans are interfering in a single case of a student being expelled.
Does anybody believe all this would be happening if the student, wasn't an honor student and was a troubled teen from the "wrong side" of the tracks?????
**************************
Secondly,
When did Minnesota become a Police State?
The Minnesota Legislature and Governor have been debating Medical Marijuana.
So far they are working on a bill that will allow Medical Marijuana in Pill, Oil, and Inhalent form, but not smoking form. Seriously? LAME...
BUT they will not pass any bill that does not have police support.
REALLY??????????????????
Since when did the police get to write the laws now?
I thought, maybe mistakenly, that the job of the police was to enforce the laws that were written by big business, I mean the government.
Am I wrong?

imdont argue politics with anyine because everyone thinks thier opinion is right and everyone else is wrong. the people in political field arenjust as crooked (sp) as the average con is.

Date: 2014-05-07 01:59 pm (UTC)I think either everybody should be treated the same or get rid of the No Tolerance Policy and handle every case individually. Then it would be interesting to see what kind of penalties are handed out to which kind of students.

Date: 2014-05-08 01:26 pm (UTC)Perhaps the image of smoking MJ is negative and the other forms make it look "Medicinal" and not "Casual". Wouldn't want anyone bypassing The Syatem by using a form one could easily get in a parking lot at 2am. It's all about "IMAGE"
