Book Reading.....
May. 4th, 2014 04:46 amI finished reading book No. 15 the other night at work.
I read Moon River and Me by Andy Williams.
It's the autobiography of Mr. Williams, and what a life he had. Born in a small town in Iowa and went on to become an international sensation. He started as a singer with his brothers. Eventually made it to Hollywood and made a few forgettable movies. The brothers eventually broke up and Andy continued on as a singer. He hit rock bottom before growing his career again. He had a huge career in Las Vegas. Eventually had a hit tv show.
Married, three kids, divorced. Dates somebody for 9 years break gives her a house and money, finds true love marries. In between there first wife kills boyfriend, and Andy stands beside her believing her innocent. IMHO believes a little too much? Pays for her defense.
After getting married for the second time and his career starting to slow down, he moves to Branson, Missouri and has a successful career in that growing entertainment capital. And if that's not enough, some of his old records have new success in England after being used in commercials and he goes on to have successful concert tours there and throughout Asia.
I have to really give credit to a book that can make me cry, or maybe I am just a big softy.
He talks about flying into Chicago in Nov. of 1963. When they land the airport is eeriely quiet except for some people crying. It was the day that President Kennedy was killed. Didn't really cry there, but got choked up. But then he goes on to talk about how he got to be good friends with Bobby and Ethel Kennedy, and eventually how he was in California with them on the day Bobby was assasinated. He was asked to sing at the funeral.
Yeah, I was sitting on break at work reading this and crying. :o
It was a really easy read. It felt like Mr. Williams was sitting there telling you his story. :)
