Mayor Fires Lesbian Police Chief

Mayor Earl Bullard of Latta, South Carolina has been under fire the past few days after getting rid of the town’s lesbian police chief Crystal Moore. Many have contended that Moore was canned for her sexuality, especially after one council member produced an audio recording of the mayor at a special city council meeting addressing the firing. "I would much rather have ... and I will say this to anybody's face ... somebody who drank and drank too much taking care of my child than I had somebody whose lifestyle is questionable around children,” he is heard saying. “I'm not going to let two women stand up there and hold hands and let my child be aware of it. And I'm not going to see them do it with two men neither,” he continues. Before her firing, Moore had not received a single reprimand in 20 years on the job.

I thought Belguim, The Netherlands, and what's the little one were called the Low Countries. Trying to remember why. Not sure if it has to do with sea level or not.

naaaaaaaaaah that's just The Netherlands.
They're named like that because a huge part of it is below sea level. They are masters in putting it dry and gain more land that way.

Read on. There has been a groundswell of support for Police Chief Moore among the residents of the town and the town council is condemning the mayor's actions as well.

Good comments from people in the town in this piece from the Myrtle Beach TV station reporting on this (Latta isn't far from Myrtle Beach - I've been through it. I think it's were DELICIOUS Blenheim's Ginger Ale comes from....)
