Jan. 31st, 2014 04:09 amI thought I would share a little catch up of the last couple of days of my life. :p
Monday night/Tuesday morning was another of our COLD days. Temperature Tuesday morning when I left work was -15. I got out to my car and started it up. I backed out of my parking space and it died. I started it up and drove down to the corner of the parking ramp. It died again. Started up and got around the corner and half way down the next level and it died again. It went on like that until I was finally able to get out of the ramp and out on the street where I pulled over and parked. I spent the next hour on hold with AAA trying to get somebody to come tow my car. It was then another 20 minutes or so before they could come get my car. Towed it to the garage where I actually had an appointment for an oil change. :p When I picked it up they said the fuel filter was really dirty and something about the ignition. It has been running okay since.
Tuesday night at work I wasn't needed on my station and was "floated" to the cardiac ICU station. I spent 8 hours sitting next to a bed holding the patient's hand so she couldn't pull any of her tubes/lines out. There was a nurse sitting on the other side of the bed holding the other hand. Dear doctor do you not understand that that qualifies as the definition of restraints??? Why not just restrain her? UGH..... The charge nurse popped her head in and told me I could go on break any time I wanted because there would always be a nurse in the room. A little bit later their aide popped her head in and told me I had to take my break at 2:30 because that is when the nurse is going and we had to go at the same time. I said that was kind of early. The nurse said he wasn't going on break until 3:15. So she told me I had to go at 3:15. I said something but I can't remember what it was and the aide told me, That's the way it is, and walked away. WTF???????????????? There is still a good chance I am going to fill out a float evalutation on that night.
Wednesday night/Thursday morning the weather man was calling for 2-6 inches of snow. During the night it started as rain, then started to freeze, and by the time I got done working it was snowing. Of course I couldn't go straight home because I had a doctor's appointment for my yearly physical. When they called my back it had stopped snowing. When I came back out again, it was coming down pretty good again.
I wasn't looking forward to the physical because I knew the doctor was going to want to arrange for a colonoscopy. Didn't really want one, and after spending almost $1,000 last year on wasted tests for my dizziness problem, I am really not in the mood for more tests. The physical went okay. Nothing too special. I few minor things I asked about didn't really get any answers. During the usual questions about family history, I don't know if it was a slip of the tongue, or just not remembering, but he talked about my mom as though she was still alive. Wasn't worth correcting at the time. Then he started on the topic of colonoscopy and prostate tests. I was very surprised that he didn't try to force them on me. He said it was up to me, and for the time being I turned them down. Had some blood work done afterward. Nice bruise from that. :p
I walked back to the hospital to get my car. By this time it was almost time for the Hallmark store to be open, so I went over to get a couple things there. Then I stopped at the grocery store and got a couple of things there. Then I headed for home. Taking my time. Roads didn't look so great. The one lane was fairly clear, but it also looked glazed. So I stayed with the slow traffice and drove between 40-50 mph.
On the way home I realized that I had forgotten to bring my license tab renewal bill along. So now I have to out this morning and get that taken care of because it's due by the end of the month. Oops.......

Date: 2014-01-31 05:15 pm (UTC)I SO agree!! Poor woman.
That's not good that your car didn't work as it should. I hope it's fixed now.
A physical isn't fun.

Date: 2014-01-31 07:18 pm (UTC)Don't worry too much about the colonoscopy. They're really nothing at all. I've had three (I get them every couple of years since my dad died of colon cancer....)
With my insurance, if I get mine done at the Gastrointestinology (sp?) clinic, it's considered an outpatient procedure and I only have about a $75 deduction. If I had it done in the hospital, it would cost a grand or so for some reason....

Date: 2014-02-01 01:54 am (UTC)My biggest objection, albeit lame, is that I have spent a fortune trying to find out what's making me dizzy, and nothing that they think is a problem, I am not interested in looking for other problems.

Date: 2014-01-31 09:28 pm (UTC)It took almost 3 years to tell everyone that my dad had died. They always felt bad for asking how he was or refering to him at all. It gets easier with practice.
