March 14th...
Mar. 23rd, 2013 08:20 pmWoke up, showered, and went out in search of some breakfast.
We decided on IHOP, which always seems to be a mistake when we are in Las Vegas. It was packed and had a waiting line. So we headed up the other way to try one of the many Denny's on the Strip. They were busy too, but we were able to get right in. Denny's current push is bacon. Some of the things you can get: a bacon shake, a bacon sundae, or a bacon brownie sundae. I went with the 6 piece bacon breakfast. Sounds bad, doesn't it. Although the bacon is quite thin, so 6 pieces in my opinion is closer to 3. lol...
From there we hopped a bus and headed down to the Tropicana resort to go to the Mob Attraction. It's kind of an interactive museum. They have live actors and projection actors that lead you through the beginning of the museum. I have never been really good with ad lib acting, but it did get the juices flowing. lol... One of the exhibits they had showed the demolition of some of the old resorts and then told what was in their places. It's kind of sad to watch the old "original" reorts being destroyed. :(
From there we made our way up the Strip.
We had to go through some of the MGM Grand because of remodeling going on outside it. The remodeling was also going on inside. Sadly, the lion cub exhibit was closed and looks like it's being replaced with a store. Next we stopped and got Dairy Queen Blizzards. Before leaving for Vegas saw the commercials that they have Buy One Get One for 99cents. Of course the DQ on the Strip is not a participating store for that promotion. :o After eating our Blizzards we stopped into the M&M store and I was silly enough to to buy some personalized M&Ms. I got a cup of White, Blue, and Yellow M&Ms and then had Donald Duck printed on them. It was going to be a treat for our Disneyland trip for the next day, if it was still a go. The cup was the size of an average drinking cup and cost $25 I think. :o :o :o I usually get an M&M tshirt, but this year I passed. The one that I really would have liked only had L size available. They had some that looked like playing cards that were tempting, but I passed. :p
Next we stopped into the Coca Cola store. I know Joe is a big CC fan so I had to balance out my M&M stop. lol... I can't tell you how tempting it is to break my no more pop policy when surrounded by it. And they serve all kinds of Coke products. Even the real sugar kind. :)
We hopped a bus up to the Venetian resort looking for a Godiva candy boutique. I had a $10 coupon to use for my Birthday. With the help of a well dressed security guard in the Palazzo we found the boutique. They were giving out a free sample of one of their candies, dark chocolate with a raspberry filling. Yummy. I found a box of trouffles and got some chocolate covered strawberries. I also got another free piece of chocolate, as a member you get one free piece each month. And they had a special buy $30 worth and get a free Godiva umbrella.
We hopped a bus from there. It was an express bus which was nice not stopping at every bus stop. But as we got closer to the Stratosphere, we turned off the strip and I was like, Um, where are we going? We eventually worked our way back over to the Strip and stopped about a block North of the Stratosphere. We got back up to our room and chilled a bit. I don't think either of us were in the mood to back out to find supper and it was getting close to bed time. We need to call it an early night if we are going to Disneyland tomorrow. So I broke down and ordered a room service pizza. It was good, but I don't know if it was worth $28 dollars. We figured the extra expense came from the two plates that came with it. lol....
Melanie called to tell us the Disneyland trip was a go, but she would be coming about 4 am instead of 3. Extra hour of sleep is always good. :) Assuming you get it. :p
Went to bed shortly after 8 and slept all the way to 12 midnight. lol...
CAN'T WAIT FOR TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The largest container which holds about 3 maybe 4 cups, guessing, goes for $60. Ouch... The smallest one is maybe a cup and goes for $20.
Now I am trying to decide if they will stay fresh enough to save them for my trip in September. lol.......
