That pretty much says it all...

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"We're going to take a look at what happened [in Newtown] and what can be done to help avoid it in the future, but gun control is not going to be something that I would support." -- Representative Robert W. Goodlatte, Republican from Virginia and incoming chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

I know I might sound a bit militaristic, but you can have all the control you want over weapons but it won't change the undeniable fact that the weapon has never and will never kill a human being on its own. It's human beings that use the weapon to take life. Just a simple fact that a lot of people seem to overlook. I don't know why, either. I have said it before and I will say it a second time - you can leave a weapon, loaded, on a table and it will never fire unless someone pulls that trigger. What we really need is better control over who has weapons. I believe we need to do a full evaluation before someone buys a weapon or a flag that is sent up when someone with mental health or dangerous habits buy one.

Also, Goodlatte is an idiot. I have done work for him and I know where he lives and I have seen his house (it's in Hunting Hills) and...he's making it rich on stupidity.

It's easy to say that a gun never got up and killed somebody.
At the same time you can say that nobody ever pulled the trigger on their finger and killed someone.
Like I read some where when the founding fathers "guarenteed" the right to bear arms, it was with a musket, ball, and powder. Not a semiautomatic with 30 bullets.

I'm only saying that you have to have someone there to fire the weapon and that's where we need to focus. I believe we should have to make doctors mark someone as unstable it should be written in their records and when a check is run to buy a weapon...a flag should be set off. No reasons, but enough to prevent the person from buying a gun.

Do you support medical/psychological check ups for all gun buyers? But what happens if they "snap" after buying guns?
Lots of Ifs.

Good counter, but it would slow down bad shit like Aurora and Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook from happening. You will always have those who are not known to have violent tendencies, but those that do would be stopped.

Of course the Gun Lords at the NRA would never allow mental examinations.

I don't much care for the NRA. I believe those dumb-shows make us all look bad.
