In The News.......

I heard over the weekend that the Minneapolis City Council has voted to defund/disband their city police department. :o :o :o
The vote was big enough that they don't have to worry about a veto from the Mayor.
And when protesters asked the Mayor if supported defunding the police department he told them no, and he was Boo'd.
Really? I am so glad we are all being adult about the this terrible mess.

Now for my opinion...

GOOD LUCK MINNEAPOLIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are the most populated city in the state, and you are going to get rid of your police force and replace it with some kind of citizen based organization???
Do you seriously think you can "police" over one million people with a fly by the seat of their pants group?
I know I criticized those police in Buffalo, I think it was, for quitting to protest the city charging the cop that shoved that 75 year old man, but I wouldn't blame the entire police department of Minneapolis quitting in mass and telling the people to try and police themselves.
I seriously just do not understand these people calling for defunding all these police departments.
Yes, there are bad cops out there, but do you really get rid of all cops so you can say you got rid of the bad ones? :o :o :o Talk about spiting yourself. :o
Sadly, I have friends that live in Minneapolis, most of the theaters are in Minneapolis, most of the professional sports teams are based in Minneapolis, and the big convention center is in Minneapolis. Good luck taking care of all of that without and organized police force. And also good luck booking conventions when you don't have a police force to guarantee safety.

Does anybody have experience with a big city that does not have a police department?
