Nov. 1st, 2018 05:14 pmMaggie Update.....
Well, Maggie came home last night around 5 pm. She was still fairly out of it. Just really seeming not sure what to do, and the cone she wears to protect the dressing and later the incision is not her friend. It constantly gets in the way.
She has 4 different medications to day. One is a liquid that I can shoot into her mouth no problem. The other 3 are pills. I stopped at the grocery store and got some soft dog food to try and sneak the pills in. Well, that was not a huge success. So I resorted to a trick I remember mom using on some of our dogs we had when we were kids. Ice Cream. Take a little spoonful of ice cream and stick the pills in that and she lapped it down. :)
As for Halloween and the Trick or Treaters, she was out of it enough that she really didn't notice them much. So that was okay.
This morning I took the cone off to give her a break and I left it off as dad was going to be home and could keep an eye on her so she didn't go for the dressing. I will have to put it back on for over night, but I will try to leave it off as much as possible.
Dad had her out this after noon and he said she did have a small poop, so that is good news.
I put the water dish in front of her and she drank close to have of it so more good news.
However, she's still not big on eating either her regular dog food or the new stuff I bought.
She is still pretty sluggish, but does seem a little more alert. :)
Some less then good news, they shaved her whole right hind quarter and of course Winter is right around the corner. :o She might not like the snow quite so much this Winter. :o
