Sep. 7th, 2015 05:51 amI had a VERY wet day at the State Fair yesterday.
I left Stewartville about 3 am. I stopped and got some gas and also a couple of bottles of water and a bottle of "strawberry" milk. I barely got out on the highway and started seeing lightening to the North. Yikes...
Finally got a little rain when I got in to St. Paul. I got to the Fair grounds at 4:45. Had a bit of a wait as they don't open until 6 am. That's why I brought along my Nook. So I did a bit of reading while I waited. Off and on had some rain.
Finally got on the grounds. Paid for parking. Parked the car. Paid my entrance fee, and barely walked into the fair when it started to rain fairly heavily. I brought along a rain poncho, but by the time I pulled it out and figured out which way was which, I felt wet inside and out. lol... I walked down the street a ways and decided to go back and get my unbrella out of the car. At times even with the poncho and the umbrella the rain was just too heavy. The lower half of my shorts and my shoes and socks were soaked.
Eventually it stopped raining and the sun came out. Boy, was that sun HOT.
Once again I did not eat like I had planned on. After I left I realized I really had barely ate anything. :( :( :(
I did feed my t-shirt addiction. I came away with 6 new t-shirts. And that was skipping a few that I wanted to get or not able to get because they didn't have the size I wanted. lol...
At one point I was walking along and all of a sudden I heard somebody calling my name. I looked around and it was one of my union leaders. She was at the union booth. So I stopped and talked to her for awhile. She made me feel pretty good by telling me at first she didn't think it was me because the person looked to skinny. LOL........ Always good to hear for the ego. :)
