Thank goodness the Repubs are saving us from illegal voting.......

PA Governor Doesn't Know What ID Is Acceptable Under Voter ID Law He Signed

Submitted by Lauren Kelley on Sat, 2012-07-28 11:05

It's a testament to how concerned the Pennsylvania state government is about legitimate voters being denied their right to vote that the Governor isn't even pretending [1] that they are going to educate the populace about the new voter ID requirements:

Pennsylvanians unsure about the requirements of their state’s new voter ID bill have some notable company: their governor.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R) on Wednesday couldn’t remember when asked by a reporter what forms of identification would be accepted under the voter ID law he signed earlier this year.

Corbett was asked about a new report showing that 43 percent of Philadelphia voters lack a valid form of identification [2] issued by the state.

“We’ve been working with the nursing homes to get people new ID. It can be military ID. There’s two or three other forms right now off the top of my head I don’t have it here in front of me,” Corbett said.

It's no biggie. I'm sure if anybody who really, really, really wants to vote they can figure out some way to do it. But I can't remember the specifics. And if it's really complicated, and they they'll figure there little point in bothering to stand in all those lines and wait on hold and search vain for the information to vote, it would be a real shame. But hey, those are the breaks. We have a non-existent problem to solve.

I did notice one thing. The only group they're "working with" to get ID is the one group of voters most likely to vote Republican --- or be persuaded to by the people who are "helping" them. What a surprise.

There's a big brouha all over the state about this, with different public officials taking different stances.

One thing I found interesting was that my room-mate, who doesn't have a state-ID, got an "important papers" letter from the state letting her know that she would need state-issued ID to vote.

They're also issuing free no-hassle state-IDs to seniors who've had a driver's license after the system went computerized.

It's really created a mess.

And how many people are going to give up and not vote, or get turned away because the people at the polls decide not to take whatever ID they have. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wish they(Repubs) would admit they are trying to push through Poll Taxes.
Minnesota is trying to require a photo id. AKA a Driver's license. Well, it's great that I have one, but I also have to pay for it every 3 years. For me that means I am paying to vote. :o

A prominent Republican here already stated that voter ID will increase Mitt Romney's chance of winning PA. I don't think there's been any denial.

I think if Poll Workers make too big a fuss, it'll cause a situation like in FL 2000 election.
