Senate Ends FAA Shutdown
If only the Senate were always this efficient. In a pro forma session that took less than a minute, the chamber passed a bill on Friday that will end a shutdown of the Federal Aviation Authority and put thousands of people back to work. To solve the funding stalemate during a congressional recess, the Senate simply approved a temporary FAA extension that the House had already passed, even though it contains a provision Democrats oppose that will cut subsidies for rural airports. It now goes to Obama for a signature.
